Libano-Suisse & Baalbeck International Festival 2018: Helping heritage light our future for the sixth consecutive year

Libano-Suisse & Baalbeck International Festival 2018: Helping heritage light our future for the sixth consecutive year

Lebanon’s prime cultural event, the Baalbeck International Festival, will once again carry the torch for civilization this summer as it returns with a strong program of performances and events. Proudly supporting the Baalbeck International Festival for the sixth consecutive year, Libano-Suisse is continuing to ensure that heritage lights our future while guaranteeing that the legacy of May Arida, the doyenne of the Baalbeck International Festival, is assured.

Now in its 62nd year, the Baalbeck International Festival certainly offers up plenty to inspire rapturous applause with its rich and diverse offering.  The program opens with a live cine-concert by Khaled Mouzanar, and continues to go from strength to strength with a special tribute to a global icon in the Baalbeck Remembers Um Kalthoum evening, as well as plenty of musical delights ranging from the classical Stabat Mater to tarab and jazz with Jahida Wehbe & Elia Maalouf, and modern legends Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals. Homegrown talent proudly takes its place on the program too with an extraordinary live show by Matthieu Chedid and the musical play Illa Iza by Georges Khabbaz.

Libano-Suisse’s continuing patronage of the Baalbeck International Festival is an integral part of its commitment to Lebanon’s growth and to supporting initiatives that allow the country to flourish. In addition, the sponsorship is a way of honoring Baalbeck itself, the City of Sun, which has a special place in the country’s rich cultural history, and, naturally, of perpetuating the legacy of May Arida, whose contribution to Lebanon’s heritage will never be forgotten.
