  5. Cancer doesn't discriminate. It affects rich and poor, young and old, woman and man, adult and child. According to the World Health Organization, it accounts for nearly 1 in 6 global deaths and is the #1 cause of death in underdeveloped nations and the #2 cause of death in developed nations.

  2. According to the WHO, cancer-related deaths among men arise mostly from lung, liver, stomach, colorectal and prostate cancers, whereas for women, these are attributed to breast, lung, colorectal, cervical and stomach cancers.
  3. Children between 0 and 19 are also affected. With 300,000 cases diagnosed each year, the main types are leukemia, brain cancer and lymphoma, making cancer the leading cause of death for children as well.

    While about 5 to 10% of cancer cases may be caused by genetic mutations, habits and lifestyle choices also play a large role in developing cancer.

Getting regular checkups and early screening is also essential in preventing cancer-related deaths.

The National Sleep Foundation states that research shows that there may be a link between lack of sleep and the increase in the risk of breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men.
